This course will cover significant advanced multicultural assessment issues, including major instruments and procedures, cognitive and educational assessment, and cross-cultural sensitivity as well as ethics of multicultural assessment.

In depth knowledge of language and literacy from birth through adult to prevent misidentification and t assist in the recognition of language differences over language disorders. Strong emphasis on English language learners and RTI to assist children in their learning as well as augmentative/alternative communication forms. An overview of ASD analyzing etiology and neurology of varied disorders on the spectrum and their impact on student academic, physical, emotional and social development. Relating educational legislation, curricular programming considerations, related services and analysis of strategies proven effective for students with disabilities falling on the ASD spectrum emphasized. Focuses on opportunities for gaining extensive field experience in the administration of standardized individual psychological and educational batteries to children and youth, ages 3-21.
